Effective Acne Treatments
Acne is a skin disease in which the pores of the skin become clogged, leading to the appearance of blackheads, inflamed areas, and enlarged pores. Post-acne may also appear in the form of post-inflammatory pigmentation or scars.
Various procedures are used to treat acne – from chemical peels, LED, IPL and laser therapy to microdermabrasion and dermaceutical skin care products.
Following a consultation, our medical practitioners will help determine the most appropriate treatment option for your case, based on the type of acne and severity.
Peeling
Peels are widely used to treat acne. An exfoliation treatment helps remove the top layer of dead skin cells that can clog pores and contribute to acne. As a result, the skin regeneration process starts. The specific type of peeling is selected depending on the severity of the disease and the desired result.
Various peels can help treat acne and appearance, even out skin tone, and can additionally reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
Laser therapy
Laser therapy is an effective acne treatment option. Laser therapy uses a focused beam of light to penetrate the skin and target acne areas locally, reducing inflammation and sebum production. This type of therapy has an antibacterial effect and destroys bacteria that contribute to the occurrence of acne.
Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL)
Phototherapy (IPL) is a gentle, non-invasive method of treating acne and post-acne, which involves exposing the desired area of skin to short-term intense light pulses. It has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and sebum-regulating effects. IPL uses a wide spectrum of light with different wavelengths. This allows IPL to target both the bacteria that cause acne and the redness associated with inflammation. IPL helps normalize the secretion of the sebaceous glands and reduce pores, stimulate the smoothing of the epidermis and improve the appearance of the skin.
LED Therapy
This non-invasive treatment utilizes specific wavelengths of light to address acne concerns. LED therapy primarily targets the bacteria that contribute to acne formation and reduce their presence on the skin. The treatment also helps reduce inflammation and promote healing. Gentle, painless therapy does not cause any downtime, making it suitable for regular use.
Photodynamic therapy
This is a light-based treatment that involves applying a solution that makes the skin more sensitive to light to the affected areas, and then exposing them to a laser or light device such as LED or IPL. PDT can help reduce clogged pores and oil glands, and is suitable for severe cases that do not respond to other treatments.
Microneedling
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that uses small, sterilized needles to prick the skin and stimulate collagen production. Although microneedling is not recommended for people with active acne, it can reduce the appearance of acne scars and related discoloration. Microneedling is mostly used on the face and may also improve the skin texture and tone.
Microdermabrasion
A non-invasive procedure helps improve skin condition through mechanical exfoliation of the skin. The treatment is effective for mild to moderate acne and can help reduce acne scarring. Microdermabrasion also reduces pore size and evens out skin tone.
Dermaceutical Skincare Products
These skin care products contain high concentrations of active ingredients and ensure deep penetration into the skin. Clinically proven products care for both the beauty and health of the skin.
Other modalities of treatment
There are other modes of treatment available, in the form of oral medication, creams and ointments, etc and depending on various factors, considered by your treating medical practitioner the best option would be personalized accordingly.
